Project Description

Documenting Storm Damage to a Septic System for Insurance

Severe weather can cause significant damage to septic systems, often in ways that aren’t immediately obvious. A major storm swept through the area, and a large tree in a homeowner’s yard was knocked down landing directly on top of their septic lateral field.

The homeowner needed to file an insurance claim for storm damage, but in order to do so, they had to provide proof that the tree had fallen across their septic system. This required professional verification and clear documentation of the system’s location.

We were called in to mark the exact location of the lateral field so the insurance company could confirm the damage. This process involved:

  • Reviewing the system layout and identifying the lateral lines
  • Marking the field clearly and accurately on-site
  • Providing the homeowner with our findings

With the lateral field professionally marked, the homeowner was able to present clear evidence to their insurance company that the storm had directly impacted their septic system. This documentation allowed them to move forward with their claim and begin planning for any necessary repairs.
