Project Description
Repairing a Failing Lateral Field and Preventing Future Issues
Pooling water in a yard especially with a septic odor is never a good sign. A homeowner contacted us after noticing just that. They wanted answers and a solution before the problem got worse.
After a thorough investigation, we found that the home’s lateral field was in need of repair. The drain field could no longer absorb and filter wastewater properly, leading to surface pooling and unpleasant smells.
We coordinated with the local health department to secure the necessary repair permit and designed a fix to restore the system’s function and longevity. Our repair included:
- Utilizing the existing septic tank to avoid unnecessary replacement costs
- Installing a new lateral field for proper wastewater dispersal
- Adding a curtain drain around the laterals to improve drainage and protect the field from excess groundwater
With the new lateral field and curtain drain in place, the system now operates at full capacity, and the yard is free of pooling water and odors. The repair not only addressed the immediate issue but also reduced the risk of future failures.
